Changing for Good, Beachbody Style
Welcome to my new and more simplified website. My hope is to share my experience and things that I have learned along the way that could be helpful to you. Even though I consider myself talkative, I have never been much of a message board participant. That being said, I feel as though I am on a new journey of transformation, one that I would love to share in the hopes of motivating and inspiring others to greatness, to live up to ones potential and to increase ones quality of life.
Upon reflection, I have always had a servant personality. My early years as a nurse and mother of two occupied much of my time. As much as I enjoyed my roles as a caretaker and provider, it seemed that I often put myself on the back burner. Maybe that is where my struggles with weight and body image started.
Not to say that I wasn’t physically active, I tried to fit exercise in into my routine but it was always the first activity to be scratched from the “To Do” when the day got interrupted. I am sure all the “Moms” out there can relate! I also tried to be conscious of my diet and felt that I ate “good”. Looking back, I realize I was somewhat in denial over that and not as educated as I am now.
As I approached my 50th birthday, my sense of personal frustration was something I needed to tackle head on!! As my sons were maturing and moving on, I knew it was time for ME now. After much thought, I came to the realization that I was not happy with my figure and my body image was messing with my sense of confidence, self-esteem and joy. If you have ever stood in front of a mirror, really paused to look and hated the reflection…that’s where I was at!
So when I had the opportunity to meet Tony Horton in June 2010, and listen to his philosophy on health, diet, exercise and LIVING, the decision was made. My Oprah, light bulb over the head, moment happened. That day, the switch was flipped in my mind. I was going to stop doing the same old thing and change it up! That day I said to myself “I’m done and I am going to CHANGE 4 GOOD! Soon after, I decided to be a Beachbody coach. It seemed like a natural fit for me as I thought I could use that role as a way to influence others.
It has been over 3 years since that day and big changes have happened to me. I decided to become more knowledgeable about fitness and became certified as a personal trainer, P90X certified and Insanity certified. So now, I wish to share my thoughts and ideas with anyone that wants to listen. Please feel free to check back often for my blog additions. My goal is to inspire and encourage my readers. If my insight can positively affect others, I am grateful and humbled.
Here’s to new friendships and celebrating successes!
